ROWAN’S SECOND VALENTINE’S DAY

We had a nice day. Rowan and I worked on some Valentine’s decor. I cut out red hearts. Rowan grabbed the scissors and tried to cut his toenails with it. I sprinkled sparkly hearts on the dining room table. Rowan grabbed them and threw them all over the dining room floor. I set out the crayons for coloring. Rowan loved the way crayons looked as he threw them in the air. I gave up, and we played in the yard. Something I will remember, the genuine happiness I felt when Rowan smiled and handed me the pink crayon for the few minutes we were sitting and coloring. I suspect Rowan did not know this, but when I was a kid, the pink crayon was always my most coveted color.

So not what you planned, but it sounds perfect to me. It made me think back to when mine were toddlers, and I realize how much they were getting out of doing things like this. Even though it didn't always seem like it at the time!

Awww…beautiful pics and a beautiful blog!! I happened to see your link on Bloggy Moms, and I loved the name of your blog, so I had to stop by! It's nice to meet you. Your photos are beautiful, and it sounded like you had such a lovely V-Day! I used to fantasize about doing this kind of stuff with my kids, but my son is TOTALLY not into it. Well, he's into scissors and cutting stuff, but he pretty much takes over any project right from the get-go and tells me what's what. I might think we're making hearts, but then he tells me…no, we're actually making a spaceship to hang on our front door. And he won't be dissuaded.

So, I'm learning all about the alternate uses for all of those foam parts that come in the kits for making Thanksgiving turkeys or winter snowmen. I think I've bought about ten turkey kits over the last five years, and not one of them ever became a gobbler. Oh well.

Anyway, I'm heading over to check out that CD you have posted on your page. I have another one of the Putamayo lullaby collections, and I LOVE it. I didn't know they had a Celtic one out! Oh, and I'm also following you on Twitter. 🙂 Have a great weekend!

    Smiles,

Thanks for checking out the blog. I am pretty new to this but am enjoying the process. Ha! I am glad I am not alone in my crafting dreams! That Celtic Dreamland CD is beautiful. We listen to almost every night just before Rowan goes to bed. It is angelic. I highly recommend it! Thanks, and have a good weekend.
