This past weekend was really nice, but not without its rocky bits. We had some fun play dates, ate yummy pizza and played around the yard. Rowan’s vocabulary is growing, and hanging out with him gets more and more fun with each passing day.
With that said, Rowan and I experienced our first real garden variety toddler tantrum walking home from lunch on Saturday. Rowan was exhausted and poor guy was beside himself. We made quite the scene. Women walking by gave me knowing sympathetic glances. One woman (on crutches!) had to chase us down when in all the chaos, Rowan had kicked off his shoe. I smiled nervously at each passerby, and did my best impression of a mom in control of the situation. I think my crazed hair, and the football hold I had on Rowan were a dead giveaway that the person in control of the situation was certainly NOT ME.
Needless to say, that night at dinner, I drank more than my share of the wine, and tried to shake it off. I suspect this is just the beginning.
Cute little monster:)
The first was in the hardest!! For us, they won't even remember it!!! Tired and hungry are two of the biggest reasons they melt down, even when they get older! I'm glad you both survived! He is so cute!!
I'm so sorry, but I'm laughing. And I know it wasn't the least bit fun or funny for you. I'm picturing my two-year-old who had a full-fledged tantrum EVERY SINGLE TIME he had to leave the train table at Barnes & Noble. One wonders why I kept bringing him back.
I'm so glad you had sympathetic bystanders for this momentous event. And wine.
Well, you and my sister both have little monsters! Let's not ever have them meet!;)
