SCENES AFTER BEDTIME

Usually, it takes me a good half of an hour to get relaxed after Rowan goes to sleep. I am always a bit wired from the dinner/playtime/bathtime routine that occurs between 5:30-7:30.

Once I leave Rowan’s room, I usually grab the emergency chocolate chips that I ALWAYS have in the freezer and putter around cleaning up the messes from the day. Usually by the time I am done, I am just relaxed enough to realize how tired I am. As I am writing this, I am laughing at how different (boring) my evening routine has become.

LOL, I'm with you on the chocolate chips! And the tired endings to the day. Love the mini Uggs. ๐Ÿ™‚

It is my winter hat. I wish I could say that I knitted it myself. I got in on sale at Barney's outlet. I love the colors too.

I totally feel the same way at about 5:30 or so. I'm tired and so is my little guy but the day isn't quite over yet!

Try Rainbow Breathing! Taking deep breaths when feelings get overwhelming is a practice that can be invaluable for all of us. When kids are feeling anxious or stressed this practice can help them find calm and regulate their nervous feelings. Using fun modalities like this Rainbow Breathing tool, can be a good way to introduce this practice to young people in a fun way that wonโ€™t make the practice seem too intimidating.
