embroidery cards: a guest post w/ christine from the plumed nest!
I am super excited about this (my first!) guest post from the creator of one of my new favorite blogs, The Plumed Nest. This blog is a treasure trove of decor inspiration, recipes, diy’s and a lot more (pretty addictive). Let me introduce you to the talented Christine Dinsmore. She is not only the mind behind the inspired blog, but she is the talent behind her Etsy Shop featuring inventive, beautiful, handcrafted pillows. I love her work and am continually inspired by her blog. She has great taste. Oh, AND she is a mom of 3 boys, 2 of which are twins! I am always inspired by mom’s making this all work.
I am flattered that Christine has created this DIY especially for Little Monster, and I love it. She has even included free printables to go along with it. I would not be shy to try it with a younger child to get there fine motor skills going. Have fun!

These embroidery cards are a fun project for the kiddos. You can use them simply as learning tools, wall art or cards to send off to family and friends.
Embroidery Cards
What you need:
Heavy card stock. (Thick paper)
Printer
Embroidery floss (yarn for little ones)
A large blunt end needle (a hole punch for little ones)
For younger ones, I suggest making fewer larger holes and using a plastic needle. Or you can also use a hole punch and yarn, rather than the needle and thread.
For the older kids that can safely handle and be successful using a needle and thread, simply download and print templates. Or if you are feeling extra crafty you can make some of your own. And if you are feeling, super-duper crafty you can have your kids draw a simple picture, print it on card stock and poke holes in it for them to follow along. In the pictures you will see how to use a back-stitch, this is my favorite stitch; I love that it gives a modern and clean aesthetic. It’s also really simple.

How fun! I used to love those "sewing cards" when my children were little, but these are much more impressive. I say it's not just for kids!

I was looking for a great postcard to commemorate our stay in tanzania safari holidays and I stumbled upon this and I couldn't be happier that I get to have ideas on making future birthday cards, and come to think of it, personalized postcards as well. Sky's the limit!

That's so cute! My child's designing a pocket folder for her project, and you just gave me an idea. I'm sure she'll be making giraffes because she loves them!
Elegant yet easy to do, with this design I could sew a matching sheets for my furniture in my living room. I could also do this activity together with friends and my family, a good bonding activity for everyone.
I would love to give this as a personalized souvenir to a person I met in a tour. I think there's nothing better to give than something you have made with a personal touch.
The pillows with embroidery designs will surely fit my beddings; this gave me an idea on how to further improve my room! I just can wait to remodel it this coming weekend!

These could pass as patterns for embroidered pillow cases. It will look nice for small apartments.
