c is for gluten free chocolate chip oatmeal cookies

This weekend I made this delicious recipe for gluten-free oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. They were a hit. We all scarfed them all down in seconds. We are not on any big gluten-free kick, but I was curious about how they would taste. I used Millet flour and it worked out really well. Also, I make a ton and freeze the cookies raw, so I can bake as needed. I highly recommend this recipe over at the blog, A Big Mouthful.

I made these “C is for Cookie” cards for Rowan since we had cookies on the brain. He also knows that “T is for Toys” which was an easy lesson, no big surprises there. I thought it could be fun to glue them to a small box and use a favor for a Cookie Monster birthday party or just a fun surprise.

You can download and print out the above 5″ x 5″ card here.

Try Rainbow Breathing! Taking deep breaths when feelings get overwhelming is a practice that can be invaluable for all of us. When kids are feeling anxious or stressed this practice can help them find calm and regulate their nervous feelings. Using fun modalities like this Rainbow Breathing tool, can be a good way to introduce this practice to young people in a fun way that won’t make the practice seem too intimidating.

This was our view when we were in Scotland. It was so good to walk by this river and empty my mind. Scotland, you charmed our whole family and brought us some moments of peace and bonding that we really needed. Sound on😌. River Earn, Crief, Scotland.
