cold remedy

I love natural, home remedies. When I can solve a problem without rushing to the drug store or doctor, it just feels good. This recipe was passed on to me by my friend and neighbor when I was complaining of a cold and the need for a non-pharmeceutical, holistic soother. It is wonderful, and hits the spot every time. When I have a cold, which I do right now, I drink nothing else. This is a perfect recipe to have in your arsenal for these ever germy, sniffly winter months.

I have to admit I lost the actual recipe, and use a different mix of clove and star anise each time. So this recipe is just a list of estimates, but it comes out lovely each time.

Cold Remedy Tea
6 cloves
2 star anise
1 sliver of ginger
1 cinnamon stick
2 cups of water
2 slices of lemon
Raw honey
Put the cloves, star anise, cinnamon stick, ginger and one slice of lemon in a small pot with the 2 cups of water. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes. Pour into your cup through a strainer to weed out all the bits. Drink it nice and hot with honey and a slice of lemon. If is too strong, you can just add a bit more boiling water.

Try Rainbow Breathing! Taking deep breaths when feelings get overwhelming is a practice that can be invaluable for all of us. When kids are feeling anxious or stressed this practice can help them find calm and regulate their nervous feelings. Using fun modalities like this Rainbow Breathing tool, can be a good way to introduce this practice to young people in a fun way that won’t make the practice seem too intimidating.
Hi friends! Barnes and Noble has a nice promotion running!
This was our view when we were in Scotland. It was so good to walk by this river and empty my mind. Scotland, you charmed our whole family and brought us some moments of peace and bonding that we really needed. Sound on😌. River Earn, Crief, Scotland.
