Remedy for a boring afternoon

 

The simplicity of filling a tub with water and making bubbles from dishwashing soap was not lost on me yesterday afternoon. Most great ideas are just that, simple. If I wasn’t before, I am now convinced that you really don’t need much. Rowan has been telling me this since he could crawl. An empty box will do, a mixing bowl will do, an empty purse will do. With or without Amazon and Toys R Us, “Mama,  I will play!”.

Rowan played in this tub until he was soaking wet and water was pooling on the floor. I remembered that we still had some washable watercolors in a closet and brought that out too. We painted bubbles, we poured bubbles, we made bubble beards. Rowan had a blast, and I was 3 1/2 again.
