This was a great project to do with my son/lover of all things dirt related. Digging and pouring earth is one of his greatest areas of expertise, and he was thrilled to put his talent to good use. Our terrarium is not one of the best you have ever set your eyes on but, but we had a good time.
What was nice to see is Rowan’s nurturing side. He was so very attentive to this little garden space wanting to carefully water and arrange it’s contents. Some healthy lessons in attentiveness and caring were learned inside this glass jar. Also, the creativity and imagination parts of his brain got a good workout too. I highly recommend clearing a little time in your day for this one.
Terarium Supplies
Potting Soil
Stones
Small Plants
Moss
Glass container
Cute accessories for decoration
First add a layer bottom of the jar with stones of your choice. This creates proper drainage for your plants and moss. The next layer will be your soil to house your plants. Moss goes on the top layer and adds a pretty floor for your accessories. In our case, a lego gardener, ceramic mushroom, a pine cone and pretty stones.
