A Little Fairy House

I love that Rowan believes in fairies. I love that he wonders, and is curious, and that we can have serious conversations about the magic that goes on in our backyard. He wonders if the fairies will scare away the skunk that lives in our bushes, or if they sneak in the house at night or do they like chocolate ice cream. In the evenings, we fill the water bath and talk about how thirsty the fairies must be with all that flying around they do. These will be some of my favorite conversations I have ever had. I need to record them, so I never ever forget.
Here are some scenes from the fairy house we created this week. This is starting to become a bit of a ritual for us. We have just moved into a new house after being in transition for months. Making sure the fairies feel at home in our yard, is becoming the thing that we do that says, “Yes, this is home”.
Fairy House
Cardboard box
Terrarium Moss
Glue
Leaves
Imagination
We cut the box flaps off to create a shadowbox. Smear glue along the inside of the shadow box and line the inside of the box with the moss. This creates a beautiful bed and cavelike little fairy bed. Smear glue on the outside of the box and stick leaves around the outside. Fill your fair house with little woodland creatures, pine cones or anything else you wish or can imagine.

Try Rainbow Breathing! Taking deep breaths when feelings get overwhelming is a practice that can be invaluable for all of us. When kids are feeling anxious or stressed this practice can help them find calm and regulate their nervous feelings. Using fun modalities like this Rainbow Breathing tool, can be a good way to introduce this practice to young people in a fun way that won’t make the practice seem too intimidating.
Hi friends! Barnes and Noble has a nice promotion running!
This was our view when we were in Scotland. It was so good to walk by this river and empty my mind. Scotland, you charmed our whole family and brought us some moments of peace and bonding that we really needed. Sound on😌. River Earn, Crief, Scotland.
