Scented Flowers for Flower Breathing Exercises

What is Breathwork?
Breathwork exercises can involve deep breathing, specific rhythms of breathing, breath retention, and conscious awareness of the breath. By engaging in breathwork, kids can regulate their nervous system, reduce stress, increase oxygen intake, enhance focus, and promote self-awareness.
Breathwork can be a powerful practice for cultivating mindfulness, managing emotions, improving overall health, and connecting with the present moment.
How can it help kids?
Breathing exercises can be a mindful tool for children when they are feeling anxious and when feelings get overwhelming. If we give kids tools for slowing our breathing, they can easily find calm even when they are away from their parents. When kids can calm down, they will be stronger to sort through tough situations.

Flower Breathing
I made these flowers with cardboard and tissue paper and felt. Recycle some old cardboard boxes and create flowers of any shapes and sizes to help kids start a breathing mindful practice.
Flower breathing is a practice that can help kids take a moment to be calm and relax each day. The practice involves, inhaling and exhaling rhythmically to calm your nervous system. By adding a small felt to the center of these cardboard flowers you can dot with your favorite essential oil to create a scented flower.

Add lavender essential oil to the felt in the center of the flower.
