A tool that I am currently using to help me with anxiety is simply, breathing. Sitting still and focusing on my physical experience helps me to gain perspective on all the running dialogue in my brain. Anxiety is a challenge for me, so I dedicate moments each day to calming my mind to help mitigate the stress that anxiety brings.

It is not a quick fix, but it is a step to gaining some control over my never-ending stream of conscience. I am not an expert, so I am linking two videos below that have been so helpful in managing anxiety:

The practice of connecting with your body, and just taking a moment to notice your breath is a first step to mindfulness and something we can start with our kids at an early age. These coloring pages and crafts on this website are all meant to introduce kids to these concepts and make it a bit more fun.

Breath work is so great for kids as it introduces them to a wide range of physical, mental, and emotional benefits. When kids can connect with their breath it helps them get out of their heads and connect with their bodies. By just taking in and being conscious of your breath, kids can regulate their nervous systems and find calm when they are overwhelmed.

Stress Reduction

Breath work is an excellent mechanism that can help kids regulate stress. Creating a practice where kids are conscious of their breath is calming their nervous system and reduces feelings of anxiety and stress.

Emotional Regulation

Breath work can teach children how to manage their emotions effectively. By focusing on their breathing, kids can learn to pause, reflect, and respond thoughtfully in challenging situations, rather than reacting impulsively.

Improved Focus

Practicing breath work can enhance children’s focus and concentration. By learning to control their breathing, kids can improve their ability to pay attention, stay present, and engage in tasks more effectively.

By creating a fun activity with Rainbow Breathing, we can introduce this mindful exercise to kids in a fun and engaging way.
